I just got home from the USA vs. Korea........ It was a decent game but once Hee Seop Choi hit it out, i knew the game was over, anyway thought i'd just share that with everyone, but yesterdays game between Mexico and Korea was way better, much more excitment than todays game.

Best Hitter of WBC My Choice-so far it's been Adrian Beltre by far. He has amazed me. After a mediocre year last year, he's exploded and has hit 4(?) homers so far.

How about Seung-Yeop Lee from Korea?, Beltre has faced better pitching obviously, but Lee has been impressive too.

Besides Beltre and SY Lee, let me add David Ortiz and Ken Griffey Jr to the list. Junior is one of very few USA hitters that's actually hitting good. I wish him the very best, and it's good to see him smile and hit good. (Yes I'm originally from Seattle if you haven't noticed.) He seems in great shape especially this early in the season. Here's hope that he will stay healthy.
SY Lee REALLY wants to play in major leagues, and looks like he's shining at the right time to show he can play in the major leagues against major league pitchers in major league parks. His contract is up after this season, smart guy. It would be safe to assume major league scouts will be after him this season to check out his form over the course of the season.

Handicaps for USA:
(1) Not all the best players are on the team.
(2) The US isn't taking it seriously. Its Spring training for most of the players (who are all ALL STARS and normally aren't playing at this level in March).
(3) US isn't use to Korean side-arm pitching.
Handicaps for Korea:
(1) New environment / new stadium.
(2) A Line-up of the best American hitters in the game. As well as MLB's premiere player.
(3) Jet-lag if any

The announcers keep saying things like "huge upset in the making" and it's becoming increasingly obvious that's just not the case. I think if they played this game ten times the Koreans would win 6 or 7 of them.

This team reminds me of Oakland a lot. Small ball with few big sluggers with very solid mounds. Some of my Korean friends said their overall payroll might below 10 million. Anyways, it's always fun to see underdog's upset even though I don't think they will play solid like this during entire 162 regular season games. Congrats to Team Korea!

chanho always has been that way. when he is on, he is unhitteable. when he is not, he can't concentrate period... he'll be having perfect game but can break down in one moment... walking hitters... etc... which means he might be better off serving as closer???

I expected Japan to be a great, but not Korea. So far they are the powerhouse in this entire tournament. With all of the hype about U.S, DR, Cuba, and Venezuala, they have really been the dark horse and suprised everyone with their talent. And it's legit. They are for real.
What I like about the Asian teams is how fundementally sound they are. That's the advantage they have over the Americans, who often lose sight of the basics when they become stars.

Besides Beltre and SY Lee, let me add David Ortiz and Ken Griffey Jr to the list. Junior is one of very few USA hitters that's actually hitting good. I wish him the very best, and it's good to see him smile and hit good. (Yes I'm originally from Seattle if you haven't noticed.) He seems in great shape especially this early in the season. Here's hope that he will stay healthy.
SY Lee REALLY wants to play in major leagues, and looks like he's shining at the right time to show he can play in the major leagues against major league pitchers in major league parks. His contract is up after this season, smart guy. It would be safe to assume major league scouts will be after him this season to check out his form over the course of the season.

This team reminds me of Oakland a lot. Small ball with few big sluggers with very solid mounds. Some of my Korean friends said their overall payroll might below 10 million. Anyways, it's always fun to see underdog's upset even though I don't think they will play solid like this during entire 162 regular season games. Congrats to Team Korea!

I expected Japan to be a great, but not Korea. So far they are the powerhouse in this entire tournament. With all of the hype about U.S, DR, Cuba, and Venezuala, they have really been the dark horse and suprised everyone with their talent. And it's legit. They are for real.
What I like about the Asian teams is how fundementally sound they are. That's the advantage they have over the Americans, who often lose sight of the basics when they become stars.
